Scot Crawford, Owner & Operator of The Bungalow Neighbourhood Hub

The Bungalow Neighbourhood Hub

To say that Al & I had been looking forward to this Business Luncheon Restaurant Review would be an understatement. This month we visited The Bungalow, operated by Scot Crawford. We shared a delicious lunch & had a great conversation with Ian Campbell, President & CEO of FC London & his Head Coach Martin Painter.

The Bungalow is a casual restaurant that is located in Old North. It serves as the 'hub' or meeting place for the neighbourhood & caters to friends & families, as well as the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, King's College & businesses in the area. Whether they are at The Bungalow for lunch or dinner, customers always run into friends.

The Bungalow is a partnership between Scot & Rosemary Crawford and Karl & Pam Lansdowne. Scot started in the restaurant business at Joe Kool’s &, as Scot jokingly says, failed upward into the role of GM. Scot enjoyed working for Mike Smith immensely, he learned a lot about customer service and the two have remained very good friends. While at Joe Kool’s, Scot worked with Rosemary, Pam & Karl, the four worked well together, laying the foundation of a great partnership.

The price-points are low at The Bungalow but the food is excellent and made from scratch. Nick Paterson & Brad Williams are the co-chefs at The Bungalow. Both Nick & Brad are graduates of the Hospitality Management - Food and Beverage program at Fanshawe College.

Now lets talk more about the food! Nick & Brad worked their magic in the kitchen as all of our meals were mouth-watering. For appetizers we shared Deep Fried Calamari which was lightly dusted & served with a jalapeño-cilantro aioli & the Southwest Chicken Springroll with black beans, corn, sweet chili & cilantro. The main course was quite a variety of delicious foods.
Ian ordered the Beef & Swiss Melt. The sandwich had hand cut tenderloin & swiss cheese & was served on a crusty roll with horseradish jus. Martin chose the Lamb Burger which comes on a sesame kaiser, topped with chopped kalamata olives, feta and arugula & was served with a bowl of Habanero cheese soup. Al decided on the Traditional Thin Crust Pizza with mozzarella, pepperoni, double smoked bacon and mushrooms, this was not Al’s first time having this dish. If you are a pizza lover, you need to try this pizza! I ordered the Buffalo Burger served on a sesame kaiser with oka cheese & grilled pineapple. The burger was cooked to perfection.

During lunch we were able to chat with Ian & Martin about FC London and their goals for the 2010 season. FC London is looking forward to growing their fan base, filling their seats, building a community spirit around the game & having a stellar season. SNAP London has purchased our 2010 Founders Club season’s tickets and will be there to SNAP the action as it happens! Visit www.fclondon.ca for more information on FC London.

It is no wonder that The Bungalow has become an increasing popular destination place for Londoners! They offer a beautifully designed, casual restaurant that includes a well rounded & affordable menu, a kitchen team that can produce quality meals with a short wait time & all of this is topped off with great customer service. If you are looking for a place to relax & catch some Olympic coverage or one of the games with your friends, enjoy a casual date, or unwind after work, The Bungalow won’t let you down. There is also a full service room upstairs for hosting your private parties.

Special thanks go out to Scot Crawford and all the staff at The Bungalow for taking such great care of us! It was a wonderful experience & we will be back for more! Thanks as well to Ian Campbell & Martin Painter from FC London for the great company and conversation.

Located in the heart of Old North at 910 Waterloo Street, at the corner of Cheapside and Waterloo streets, The Bungalow Neighbourhood Hub is a great destination place. Visit www.bungalowhub.ca for more information.
